CHOIR member Maurice Humphries knows all about community harmony.
Maurice – who joined Bidford Community Choir along with his daughter and granddaughter – says it has helped him integrate more with other members of the village after he moved to Bidford some years ago.
He told the Observer: “When we moved here – at 80 years of age – I realised a lifetime ambition and joined a choir.
“The choir plays a very important part in the life of the community. It allows a large number of people to come together to socialise and enjoy making music. It provides musical entertainment for a variety of groups, including hospices and pensioners.
“Last but not least, the money we raise is donated to local good causes, such as hospices, school projects and individuals for whom special equipment can change their lives.”
The choir is keen to hear from businesses to help it continue its fund-raising work.
It holds several concerts a year, with each event raising money for different charities.
To continue running the choir needs support to fund room hire, the cost of sheet music and uniform expenses.
The choir is asking businesses and individuals to support it to the tune of £40 a year and become a patron.
The next charity concert which the choir is currently practicing for will be held in aid of The Dementia Café and Friends of Bidford Health Centre.
It will take place at The Barn on Waterloo Road on Saturday June 17 at 7.30pm.
